Button Up Cafe My first dining experience in Hawaiʻi was a memorable one! As we arrived, the first thing that we saw was the chef chasing a rooster away from the front door! You’ve got to love the island charm. Talk about fresh poultry! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Stuffed French Toast and the Loco Moco with Braised Short Ribs, and both dishes were outstanding. Our food arrived quickly, and everything was served fresh and hot. This is a local spot, not a fancy restaurant, but that’s part of its appeal. The atmosphere was welcoming, the operation seemed well-organized, and everything appeared clean and well-maintained. If you’re looking for great local food and a genuine Hawaiʻi experience, Button Up Cafe is definitely worth a visit!
Nice chill spot. They are known for the French toast but I had to get some real breakfast after a long flight back home from Japan. Had a little wait because the place is kinda small and it can get busy. You sit down look at the menu and order your food from the counter. Took a few minutes but the food came out nice and hot! A lot of food for the price and very tasty.
It’s Local as local gets, its smiles and aloha, it’s delicious food served hot and seasoned. Pour your own coffee, food served on paper plates and with plastic forks or knives. The sweetest people behind the counter and the food is so delicious. I told my wife, this reminds me of the best parts of diner food vibes but with Hawaiian flavors. I love being able to get eggs Benedict with Kalua Pork and French fries. I love seeing my wife get an omelette served hot and full of everything the menu said would be there. And the Strawberry Cheesecake French toast, soooo much fun. I spent 10 years working in Michelin restaurants. From line cook to Chef de Cuisine, chefs go searching for the perfect “hole-in-the-wall” local spots to get hot delicious food. This would’ve been my daily breakfast in those days. Thank you (mahalo) for the fun and positive experience from you and your team! Sending our love, we hope to visit again soon! 🤙🏽
The food was amazing! The establishment is small and unassuming, but they delivered a better culinary experience than much larger and more expensive restaurants. We highly recommend the stuffed French toast. The Ube Cheesecake was especially good as other reviews have stated. One word of caution if you intend to dine-in, be prepared to wait as seating is very limited.
food was delicious, service was amazing!! the staff was so kind and funny, we had such a great breakfast experience. we got the corn beef and the kalua pork benedicts and tried the strawberry french toast all were 10/10s! the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and very family friendly, will definitely be bringing friends and family here in the future!
