The food reminds me of my home in the south. The fish and fries tasted ok. The sauce was great. I guess I expected more spice on the actual fish. I feel like the crust took away from the seasoning. The fries were regular degular. The mac tasted like love. The seasoning and that lasagna pulled cheese on it was awesome!! We waited a long time (1hr and 3 minutes) for our food but they were short handed. There was a group of 8 people there. They seemed to be more attentive to them. NOT MAD but just didn’t get the same treatment as they did. Vibe was ok, the music really brought out the vibe. Would recommend if you are gonna put in an order come early and know what you want. Btw, parking was slightly difficult.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Southern Love is an absolute hidden gem and easily one of the best non-diner breakfast spots I've ever visited. The space is incredibly intimate with only about 15 seats, which gives it a very exclusive, cozy feel. The owner, Cory, hails from Georgia and is a truly phenomenal cook. During our visit, he appeared to be holding down the fort completely solo, yet the quality, pacing, and care in the food never wavered. You can taste the difference immediately—everything is made fresh from scratch. I ordered the chicken biscuits and gravy, and the flavors were rich, peppery, and perfectly balanced with a beautifully crispy fry on the chicken. My friend had the grits and Cajun shrimp, and it was equally phenomenal with deep, savory flavors. If you want genuine, scratch-made Southern comfort food, you need to check this place out. Huge compliments to the chef; I'll absolutely be back!
This restaurant is an absolute gem. Sitting at the counter feels warm and personal, like enjoying a meal in a friend’s kitchen. The owners and their family are incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even more special. The food is comforting and full of flavor—the shrimp po’ boy was outstanding, and the fried chicken with gravy was rich, crispy, and satisfying. The cozy atmosphere and genuine hospitality make this place stand out. It’s wonderful to have authentic soul food like this in town. I can’t recommend this spot enough and will definitely be back.
Top Tier southern foods and vibes!! I found this place on my last day on the island. I’m ready to come back to get more awesome food. I ordered the Cajun salmon and grits. Had to get it to go. Seasoned to perfection and the grits were creamy and had the right amount of cheese. Definitely coming back.
We visited with a group and got a little bit of everything, Including the desserts. Every single dish had its own unique, incredible flavor. You can really taste the love and care put into this food. It felt so wholesome and comforting. While the kitchen took a little time to get the food out, it was absolutely worth the wait because everything was served perfectly. Definitely recommend, and we already can't wait to come back for brunch!
