We’ve been coming to the Kroc soccer field for a long time, so this change was really disappointing. We showed up to play and were told we now have to either purchase a membership or pay $12 per person just to use the field. The security guard who is here daily has been rudely asking people to leave. When I asked about it, I was told the decision was made because some young people were damaging the field. That’s understandable,but if security is already present and monitoring the area, why not address the individuals causing the problem instead of penalizing everyone? Since this change, the fields are sitting empty. It’s frustrating because this used to be a positive, active space for kids and families in the community. When you take away accessible places like this, it leaves fewer healthy outlets for young people.I really hope management reconsiders or finds a better balance that keeps the fields maintained while still allowing the community to use them.
The Kroc Center is such a great part of the Greenville community. The facility is always clean, the staff is friendly, and there’s really something for everyone - when my son was younger, this place was the BEST for birthday parties, and the sports programs are top-notch. We also love the fitness classes, there are activities for all ages. It’s one of those places that always feels very welcoming. We’re lucky to have it here.
The Sunday night two hour swim pass is not two hours. I purchased a two hour swim pass for my kids for last Sunday from 4:45 - 6:45 online. At 6:25 the lifeguard blew the whistle and said the pool will be closing in 5 minutes. I asked the lifeguard why (thinking there was something wrong and they had to close early) and she said they close at 6:30 on Sundays. I said well online I purchased a pass that says 6:45. She said my kids could swim until 6:45. Then at 6:30 they started closing everything down and even turned the lights off on us, as well as stopped 'guarding' while my kids were still in the pool (which is fine I watch my kids when they swim). At 6:45 I got my kids out and went to the locker room to change for the ride home and the doors were locked. I asked why the door were locked to the restrooms and he said the building closes at 7 (still had 15 min). After some pushback he unlocked the family bathroom so my kids could change. We exited the building at 6:50. Ridiculous. Please update your website and/or add an asterisk note to let people know what they are purchasing. If I had known I would have chosen to come another day. Turning the lights off and locking us out of bathrooms was just dramatic and unnecessary when your organization dropped the ball... its not my kids fault.
They have odd times slots you have to reserve to use the pool even if it's completely empty. It's $12 per person for 2 hours. You have to be 14 or older to get in the hot tub and the rules here are strictly enforced. Lifeguards here look like they just came out of Army boot camp. The water temperature is very cold for an indoor pool. Just be warned. Locker rooms are a little dated.
Update: I went into sign up and they said that the initiation fee of $75 was only waived for the club membership, not club + tennis. What a waste of time today. I did not join :( My initial experience with their website is REALLY bad. I have been trying to sign up for a membership for an hour. It says online, and I was told when I called that the initial fee of $75 was waived for the month of April, but when I try to register online it is trying to charge me for it. I called today and, after placing me on hold for about 5 minutes, they said they couldn't help me with the website and I had to come in to sign up. I was just in there this morning when they told me I could sign up online and I am trying to get into a class that starts early tomorrow a.m. And I can't register without a membership. It seemed like a nice facility, but this is ridiculous. If their website can't handle something as simple as allowing you to sign up for a membership, I have doubts about how easy (and accurate) it is going to be when I try to sign-up for classes, etc. after I do get registered.
