I can’t recommend Wilkinson Shake Roofing highly enough. If you’re looking for an honest, experienced, and highly skilled roofing contractor in Honolulu, this is the company to call. They installed a wood shake roof on our home in Hawaii Kai back in 1991, in one of the windiest neighborhoods on Oahu. Today, more than 35 years later, the roof is still in remarkable condition. With very little maintenance over the years, it has held up incredibly well and appears to have at least another 10–15 years of life left. At this rate, I have every reason to believe this roof will last 45 years—possibly even longer. Not only has the roof stood the test of time, but it still looks absolutely beautiful. A quality wood shake roof adds so much character and curb appeal, and Wilkinson’s craftsmanship has allowed it to retain that classic, high-end look for decades. What impressed me just as much as the workmanship was their honesty. I recently called and asked if someone could come inspect the roof. On very short notice, the owner himself came out—the same person who originally installed it over three decades ago. Instead of trying to sell me a new roof or unnecessary repairs, he carefully inspected everything and simply told me the roof was in great shape and that I had nothing to worry about. That level of integrity is rare these days. It would have been easy to recommend expensive repairs or a replacement, but they chose honesty instead. That says everything about the kind of company they are. If you’re considering a wood shake roof, I don’t think you’ll find anyone in Hawaii with more experience. From what I understand, they also install all types of roofing systems. If you want exceptional craftsmanship, a company that stands behind its work, and people you can genuinely trust, I wholeheartedly recommend Wilkinson Shake Roofing.
